'Honestly, Hans crushed it,' director Zack Snyder says
Film composer Hans Zimmer offers a peek in this exclusive video into how he created the score for Man of Steel, the new Superman movie that opens Friday. “After finishing my adventures on Dark Knight, I decided we needed to go in a completely different direction,” Zimmer says as part of a clip that shows him at work in the studio, musing on the challenges and rewards of experimentation and comparing notes with director Zack Snyder.
“The challenges of creating a Superman score are daunting because Superman is so iconographic,” Snyder said in a statement. “I really feel like what Hans created is perfect. Subtle and stirring, epic and commanding. Honestly, Hans crushed it.”
The soundtrack came out this week on WaterTower Music (order it here). Fans can choose between the standard two-disc, 18-song soundtrack, and a 24-track deluxe edition that comes in an embossed steel case and offers access to behind-the-scenes videos showing how the music was created.
