Manasi Scott And Aneesh Gera Release Trippy New Song ‘Bloom’
The track is also accompanied by a music video
Mumbai-based singer-songwriter Manasi Scott and producer Aneesh Gera recently teamed up to work on and release a brand-new track and video entitled “Bloom.” Rolling Stone India caught up with the artists to talk about the song, their collaboration and more.
Read the interview below:
When did the two of you first cross paths with each other?
Scott: 2019 If I remember correctly just before the initial lockdown.
Gera: Our energy was instant; seldom do I meet people that I bond with the way we did.
Were you guys always keen on making music together or was this something that took time to brew?
Scott: We hit it off the moment we met and our musical creative kindred spirits instantly connected. Our music would have started right away but lockdown put that on hold. During my 180 live concerts from home during lockdown Aneesh started to send me music, and as I started to write that’s how it began for us.
When did work on “Bloom” begin and what can you tell me about the project and how it came to be as well as what the music means to you?
Gera: ‘Bloom’ started a while ago, I wanted to approach this very differently to my previous work as I’ve mainly worked remotely with artists from all over the world and more often it’s difficult to capture that magic. So when it came to ‘Bloom’ I jumped on a plane, and decided against the fancy million-dollar studios, Manasi and I sat on the floor in her living room and just started writing music and lyrics together. I usually chase a vibe a kind of energy rather than style to genre. Keeping that as our goal rather quickly the magic began to unfold and we pretty much had all of ‘Bloom’ done in one evening. It’s a rather personal record, to be honest, we poured a lot into this from our journeys to our values and ethos.
Scott: Our thoughts about love life people and integrity found their way into ‘Bloom.’
What can you tell us about the music video?
Scott: I produced and conceptualized this fully upscaled video. Each outfit and accessory is 10 to 21 years old. Trevayne Kaman was the DOP and editor and nailed it.
