Maroon 5 Had Mumbai Singing, Dancing, and Crying All at Once

With opening acts by Zaeden and DJ Mailbox setting the tone for an unforgettable evening, all flawlessly orchestrated by BookMyShow Live

Mumbai’s Mahalaxmi Racecourse had always been a place of elegance, but on Dec. 3, 2024, it was transformed into something truly magical. Picture this: a crisp evening, the unfortunate Mumbai pollution, and thousands of fans pouring in, buzzing with excitement. Why? Because this was the night Maroon 5 finally made their India debut, brought to us by BookMyShow Live.

Let’s rewind to the beginning. The gates opened, and as fans found their spots, the hum of anticipation filled the air. Enters Zaeden, the Indian artist who knows how to kickstart a party. With his hits “Terebina” and “Dooriyan,” he had the crowd swaying in no time. Then, a surprise—a collaboration with Lisa Misra that sent chills down spines and goosebumps to arms. If you weren’t already dancing, you were after that. People turned to each other, saying things like, “This is going to be one hell of a night.” Spoiler alert: they were right.

Just as Zaeden wrapped up, DJ Mailbox stepped in. Now, let’s be honest, interludes can sometimes feel like the lull before the storm. Not this time. DJ Mailbox served up a platter of commercial hits that kept the vibe alive, leaving no room for a dip in energy. It was like a warm-up lap before the main race—fun, effortless, and totally engaging.

Then came the moment everyone was waiting for. The lights dimmed, the chatter hushed, and the stage came alive. Maroon 5 had arrived. Adam Levine, the epitome of cool, stepped up, and the crowd lost it. Kicking off with bangers like “Animals” and “One More Night,” the band’s energy was infectious. It was one of those surreal moments when you think, “Is this really happening?

As the setlist unfolded, it became a journey down memory lane. “Payphone” had people clutching their hearts, “Maps” had them dancing like nobody was watching, and “Girls Like You” turned into a massive singalong. But the standout? An acoustic rendition of “She Will Be Loved.” Levine and James Valentine stripped it down, and suddenly, the massive crowd felt like an intimate gathering of friends.

In a heartwarming twist, Maroon 5 invited a fan on stage midway through the show. The lucky fan handed Adam a bouquet of flowers, and his genuine gratitude reminded everyone why they loved this band—not just for their music, but for their humanity. The fan’s grin was contagious, spreading through the audience like wildfire.

The crowd, though, was the unsung hero of the night. They weren’t just spectators—they were part of the performance. From belting out lyrics to waving their phone flashlights, they matched Maroon 5’s energy beat for beat. At one point, Adam gave a shoutout to fans born in different eras. The ’90s kids roared with pride, and the 2000s crew got their moment in the spotlight too. It felt like one big, joyful family reunion.

And let’s not forget the event itself. BookMyShow Live nailed it. From hassle-free entry to clean washrooms (yes, that’s a big deal), everything was on point. The food stalls catered to every craving, and the sleek all-black stage design was a visual treat. The lighting? Absolutely killer. The sound? Flawless. It felt like the venue itself was an extension of the music. However, the VIP area could’ve been a little closer to the stage, and the fan pit slightly smaller to bring everyone closer to the action. It felt like the venue itself was an extension of the music.

The finale was, in one word, epic. “Sugar” brought the house down, with every single voice in the crowd joining in. As the final notes echoed, fireworks lit up the Mumbai sky, leaving everyone with their jaws on the floor. It was the kind of ending that makes you look around and think, Wow, we just witnessed something special.

Before leaving, Adam Levine promised they’d be back. Judging by the deafening cheers, the fans were already counting down the days.
