Tokyo-based, American guitar ace Marty Friedman will return to India for a three-city tour in January 2026.

The virtuoso artist who was also part of thrash metal giants Megadeth is slated to perform in Mumbai on Jan. 16, 2026 at Phoenix Palladium, in New Delhi on Jan. 17 at The Piano Man, Eldeco Centre and close with a set at Kantha festival as part of BLR Hubba in Bengaluru on Jan. 18, 2026.

Tickets for the Mumbai and New Delhi concerts are now live, with registrations for the Kantha, BLR Hubba festival performance slated to commence soon.

Friedman, who has been releasing solo albums since 1988’s full-length Dragon’s Kiss, last visited India in 2019, making his debut in the country at NH7 Weekender in Meghalaya. On the studio front, Friedman added a guitar solo on prog band Skyharbor‘s song “Catharsis” in 2012 and later called on the Indian band’s guitarist-producer Keshav Dhar and drummer Anup Sastry on his song “Steroidhead” in 2014. It was in 2021 when Friedman extended his India connect after Meghalaya, featuring on New Delhi rock band Antariksh’s song “Quest.”

First rising to fame with the metal band Cacophony with fellow guitarist Jason Becker in the Eighties, Friedman joined thrash metallers Megadeth in 1990 and went on to become known for his iconic guitar solos and riffs on seminal albums like Rust In Peace, Countdown to Extinction, Youthanasia, Cryptic Writings and Risk, departing the band founded by Dave Mustaine in 2000. Friedman has been best known for some of Megadeth’s greatest hits, including “Tornado Of Souls,” “Symphony of Destruction,” “A Tout le Monde” and “Trust,” among several others.

While solo albums were regular throughout the decades, Friedman began focusing on his solo career from the 2000s onwards, releasing albums like Loudspeaker, Inferno and Wall of Sound while fully embedded in the Japanese music industry. In 2024, he released his most recent album, Drama which carried forward guitar-centric, prog-leaning composing.
