Stan’s last full-length project was the 2022 11-track album 'Insaan'
The past year has seen the Pune hip-hop icon, MC Stan, catapult himself into superstardom. From releasing the club staple “Haath Varthi” with producers KSHMR and Phenom, to being crowned the winner of Bigg Boss season 16, the 24-year-old has undoubtedly carved his mark into the history books of Indian popular culture.
His accolades do not stop there, though. MC Stan, post his Bigg Boss victory earlier this year, hosted an Instagram live that clocked in a record-breaking 541k viewers, a feat yet to be surpassed by any other Indian content creator on the platform.
This year also marked the rapper’s debut performance at the 2023 Bacardi NH7 Weekender, hosted in his hometown of Pune. While the buzz surrounding this festival’s debut was immense, the performance itself was met with mixed reactions. Nevertheless, the larger-than-life spectacle and hometown support left fans with a satisfying inclusion during the festival at large.
A recent Instagram story on MC Stan’s profile appeared to tease an upcoming album with a photograph of the rapper donning a “Gallery Dept.” and text saying “Never Get Mad Get Money.”
Stan’s latest full-length project was the 2022 11-track album Insaan, which was positioned as a very MC-Stan-driven vehicle. While he did manage to include two collaborations, namely with rappers IKKA and Raftaar, the captain of the ship still seemed to be Stan himself. This album was a unique glimpse into the mind and priorities of the young lyricist, who managed to prove to his audience yet again that he is a hit-maker. “Basti Ka Hasti” has arguably become MC Stan’s very own theme song.
What can be expected from this new album are more collaborations with industry giants. Given the rapper’s prolific profile-building in 2023, it will come to no one’s surprise that many Indian hip-hop acts are looking to tap into Stan’s unique trap-ridden, dialect-heavy genre. If we are to go by this Instagram story, “Never Get Mad Get Money” will see the rapper lean further into his superstardom persona, with aspects of his fame and success perhaps becoming central themes to the album’s larger narrative.
