The Mumbai-based singer-songwriter released his debut LP 'Songs From A Matchbox' last year
After making it to the Top 6 on singing competition The Stage in 2016, Mumbai-based singer-songwriter Raghav Meattle is now also part of Nexa Music‘s Top 24. On being shortlisted for the nationwide hunt for English-language artists from across the country, Meattle says, “I think it’s a great platform for independent music and I’m really excited to be a part of it. It’s always nice when a brand decides to do something for the scene.”
The singer-songwriter — who released his eight-track debut album Songs From A Matchbox nine months ago — has created quite a buzz for himself in the country’s independent music scene with strong streaming numbers and packed shows. In regards to how Nexa Music can further elevate him as an artist, he says, “I think it’s what my career needs in terms of building a new audience. Nexa Music is really going to push the music out, something that I’m not capable of doing due to limited budgets.”
With the likes of musician-producer Clinton Cerejo and composer A.R.Rahman keeping a watchful eye on Nexa Music’s Top 24 artists, Meattle is looking forward to the opportunity to work with them. The singer-songwriter says, “They’re legends and I can’t wait to get into the studio and learn from them.” He adds, “They’ve got so many years of experience creating music, and I think I can really benefit from it.”
