The Mumbai-based singer-songwriter duo is currently working on their debut album ‘Fireflies and Unicorns’
Hearing Mumbai-based singer-songwriter duo StringyCheese & CrackerJack blend their voices together to create beautiful harmonies is a definite treat. Musicians Bryan Ernest and Neethi Anne initially met at a musical gathering at Mumbai’s Aarey Forest a couple of years ago and decided to put their talents together. Since then, they’ve gone on to perform at venues around the city showcasing their breezy sound. Now, they are also bringing their happy-go-lucky tunes to Nexa Music’s Top 24, the nationwide hunt for English-language artists from across the country.
Anne explains to us that it is usually Bollywood music that works in India.“It’s beautiful to be a part of something that has never been done before… at least in India,” she says, adding, “Such a push for English songwriters is something we really need, especially with so much talent brewing all around the country. We are more than thrilled to be a part of this revolution.”
As StringyCheese & CrackerJack is also working on their seven-track debut album Fireflies and Unicorns, Ernest feels that they only way artists similar to him can reach more people is if they have platforms such as Nexa Music. “It just pushes everything we have to share as artists into the view of a larger audience,” he says. “We really need top-notch video content, which Nexa is providing us with, to push us to the next level.”
Both Anne and Ernest are also thrilled about the fact that composers A.R.Rahman and Clinton Cerejo are backing the platform. “Most of us have grown up listening to songs by these legends, it’s going to be one hell of a learning experience that we’re going to take back when we collaborate with them,” says Anne.
