Reverrse Polarity are a five-member progressive/hardcore band from Mumbai, comprising vocalist Gaurav Kataria, guitarists Shikhar Manchanda and Sameer Suri, bassist Jorda Veigas and drummer Gautam Deb. Formed in 2008, the band went on to win the televised band competition Channel [V] Launchpad in 2009 [even being featured on the cover of ROLLING STONE India’s December 2009 issue]. Originally including second vocalist Viraaj Saxena and drummer Jonathan Fernandes, who passed away in 2011. After a year-long hiatus, the band regrouped, with Deb [from experimental metal band Noiseware] on drums and began working on new material. In March 2013, the band added guitarist Sameer Suri and began working on their self-titled debut album with producer Keshav Dhar [from prog metal band Skyharbor]. Says guitarist Manchanda about working with Dhar, “We recorded the album in just seven days, which was fast for us. We were all pressurized.” The 10-track debut album was originally released through online music equipment retailer Bajaao and re-released worldwide earlier this year on Universal.

Sound:

Although Reverrse Polarity’s early sound was influenced by hardcore bands such as Poison The Well, the Mumbai band turned to more modern progressive metal after Deb joined the band. Says Manchanda, “We did experimental with different styles of music with him [Deb]. It was more abstract metalcore mixed with a ton of shit.” Reverrse Polarity are also working on new material, according to Manchanda, “It’s a little more groovy, a little heavier.”
