Goddess Gagged defines their sound as “post-hardcore, with progressive elements.” “It’s got it’s roots in hardcore music, but we draw influence from various other genres like electronica and indie too,” says Dayal. According to the band, what sets Goddess Gagged apart from the others is the fact that they channel their influences in modern metal into a unique sound. “Our influences are varied ”“Krishna is a big fan of Explosions in the Sky, while I am more into heavy bands with old school influences ” says Dayal. Some of their main influences are Protest The Hero, Architects, Sikth, Periphery, Porcupine Tree, Karnivool, Between the Buried and Me and Dance Gavin Dance.

 On winning

The band say the category they’re most confident of bagging is Best Vocalist. “Basrur’s voice is like a cross between Fergie and Jesus,” says Dayal. “We probably have the best vocalist out of all in the competition. Krishna is also well recognized in the scene, but the nominations every other category would be fair game.”

When asked what category they’d ideally like to win in, Dayal deadpans, “Best keyboardist.” “But seriously, winning any of them would be great! We probably won’t win best band, album, or song because we’ve neglected to get people on Facebook to vote.”
