Menwhopause is one of the most significant bands to have come out of Delhi in the last decade. Not one to follow norms, they consciously eschewed the boxing ring atmosphere of college competitions, strongly believing that it was more important for a bunch of musicians to evolve their own sound than get into manufactured rivalries with fellow musicians. Their first performance took place on vocalist Sarabjit Chadha’s terrace on a full moon night. The song ”˜Fly Away’ was recorded on a small 2-in-1 by a close friend. The band has travelled a long distance since, playing live gigs across the country, performing at the South By South West festival in Austin, Texas, and a doing seven-city tour of Texas. Their grungy-melodic idiom doesn’t compromise on lyrics, while pounding drums, tinkling acoustic notes and a nagging baseline add to the feverish intensity of their sound.
