Virtuoso guitarist Michael Angelo Batio and powerhouse vocalist Jim Gillette’s once-glam metal band Nitro is making its way to India and Nepal in September, to play their first set of shows. They will be joined by American metal band Lamb of God’s drummer Chris Adler and bassist Matt DeVries (formerly of industrial metal veterans Fear Factory and metal band Chimaira).
The band, who are currently recording and crowdfunding their upcoming third full-length album (which also features bassist Victor Wooten), have picked India for their reunion tour and will perform in Bengaluru, Kochi, New Delhi and Mumbai between September 22nd and 28th, followed by a show in Nepal. They will play a string of club shows, with additional dates still being worked out by Bengaluru-based promoter, The Broken Roads Group.
Formed in the late Eighties by Batio (best-known for his blazing ”˜double-guitar’ playing), Gillette, bassist T.J. Racer and drummer Bobby Rock, the Hollywood band broke up in 1993, after releasing two albums ”“ O.F.R (1989) and Nitro II: H.W.D.W.S. (1991).

Batio said in a statement, “I’ve always loved performing in India. So has Chris. I think it is fantastic that we are touring in India and Nepal for our first tour. Everyone is very excited about it!”
Gillette adds, “We were discussing where we would debut the new Nitro and India seemed like the perfect place! I can’t wait to get over there and experience everything. The people, culture, and of course I want to rock you guys hard!”
Batio says their setlist will include songs from the Nitro discography as well as unreleased material, Lamb of God songs and “a few surprises”.
Broken Roads Group founder Subhash Rao says he got a call in March asking if he’d like to work with Nitro, who were looking into touring with the new line up and material. “It took me about four seconds to jump on board when I heard the new lineup.”
