Music Company MGMH Launches New Distribution Service

MGMH Groove offers artists the option of paying once per upload, plus additional services like pitching music to festivals, radio and legal solutions, among others

There’s a new music distribution company on the block focused on independent artists in India – Music Gets Me High (MGMH)’s Groove.

The service will also extend to have publishing and marketing in addition to distribution, with no yearly payments and the option of splitting payments between contributors and “free pre-saves and release day smart URLs” for artists, among other features.

Under Groove Plus, there are additional services offered after artists have signed up for distribution through MGMH Groove. That includes pitching songs to be included in editorial playlists (for ₹2,500 plus taxes), submitting music to be considered for music festivals such as Ziro Festival of Music in Arunachal Pradesh, Lollapalooza India and others (for ₹1,000 + taxes), legal solutions from Bengaluru-based company Lexic and sending music “to be considered for a non-exclusive sync deal” on shows airing on OTT platforms like Netflix and Prime Video, among others.

Started by founder Ritnika Nayan after years working at distribution companies like CD Baby and FUGA, as well as publishing firm Downtown Music, MGMH Groove is an extension of decades in artist and event management, as well as writing her book Indie 101, which is also a music business management course run in association with New Delhi’s Sri Aurobindo Center of Arts and Communication.

Nayan says in a statement, “Anyone can release your music for you, but artists need more, they need more attention, more resources and that’s what we hope to provide via Groove.”

A press release adds, “The decision to expand the 17-year old [founded in 2007] artist management and live music agency into distribution and publishing came after realizing that there was still a gap in what Indian artists needed from their distributors.”
