Hear Moeha, Dabzee and V3K’s Enriching Kannada/Malayalam Trap Song ‘Bharavase’

Juxtaposing dark trap beats with messages of motivation, Kerala-based artists Moeha aka Ramya Vijayakumar, Dabzee and V3K aka Vivek Radhakrishnan’s newest single “Bharavase” is a bi-lingual bop for those stuck in the rut of digital worlds.
Featuring Dabzee’s Malayalam vocals as well as Moeha’s first-ever release in Kannada, “Bharavase” is described as a vehicle for self-motivation and upliftment. The artists say in a statement, “We live now to impress others, not ourself, willing to give away that bit of self-esteem in the name of digitally acquired happiness. You pay for it in fiat and in kind; the kind that can drive you crazy and impossible to open yourself to new thoughts.”
Although Moeha and V3K – both part of the label/platform Glitch Collective – have released several tracks together, this is their first with Dabzee, who has been releasing music since 2020 and found an audience with songs like “Manushyan” and “Maarijan.” The duo met Dabzee at the Para Festival in early 2020 and began working on “Bharavase” in mid-2021.
Bengaluru-origin Moeha, for her part, fulfilled her long-standing goal of creating a Kannada song. “This track has a few bars of Kannada rap which gives a simple message of hope, a message to console the one listening saying everything will fall into place in its own time. Also, that effort goes into everything we want to achieve. Your roots are your identity mostly and I also want to embrace them,” she says.
V3K’s Glitch Collective will look to continue rolling out releases through 2022. First on the anvil is a music video for “Back Bencher Returns,” a song V3K made with folk/fusion act Thakara. Moeha, a partner at the label, also mentions an album by actor-musician Sreenath Bhasi called Iruthala Pakshi, produced by V3K. “This album is equipped with around 15 tracks each of its own mind. The release date is yet to be announced,” she adds.
Moeha will also launch a second Kannada song “Nenapu” along with Bengaluru artists EmmJee and rapper Gubbi. V3K will also launch a solo compilation album called Upsycle, which is inspired by the environmentally-conscious practice of upcycling. Outside of music, Moeha says they have an educational property in the works called GlitchXAcademy, aimed at providing “artistic independence.”
