The British prog metal band return to India with new vocalist Chris Barretto to play at the annual cultural festival of BITS, Pilani
When we spoke to British progressive metal band Monuments earlier this year, ahead of their gig at IIT Kharagpur’s Spring Fest 2013 in January, then-vocalist Matt Rose mentioned that they wanted to return to India. While Rose left the band in a not-so-amicable fashion in March this year, saying that he was “growing increasingly frustrated at the work ethic of the band,” Monuments have recruited Chris Barretto [formerly of djent band Periphery] and are making good on their promise. Monuments will perform at BITS Pilani, Goa’s for their annual cultural festival, Waves, which takes place between November 8th and 10th.
Waves, which hosted Australian alternative rock band Dead Letter Circus [who have just finished touring Europe with Monuments] last year, will also announce their full lineup soon including EDM on November 8th, rock and metal on November 9th [when Monuments will perform] and Bollywood music on November 10th.
As far as prog metal goes, it’s not just Monuments who return to India. This year also sees the return of Dutch band Textures in October at the Bacardi NH7 Weekender in Pune, along with Swedish technical metal band Meshuggah and British prog metallers TesseracT, who play in November in Delhi and Bengaluru, respectively.
Monuments play at B Dome Arena, BITS Pilani, Goa Campus, as part of Waves 2013 on November 9th, 2013. Entry: TBA.
