Speed metal legends reveal fall tour plans, track list for August album.
Motörhead will celebrate their 40th year as a band with an equally huge feat: releasing their 22nd studio album. The speed metal group announced Bad Magic on their official site along with an August 28th release date.
Singer and bassist Lemmy Kilmister first indicated that the band would work on new material last September during an interview with radio show Full Metal Jackie. He revealed that they would “probably” enter the studio in January, though it was still tentative at the time.
“We don’t have a plan,” he explained. ” Motörhead never has a plan.” They ended up hitting the studio in February, as confirmed by Blabbermouth and several Instagram videos of the band working with longtime producer Cameron Webb on new material.
Kilmister and Co. also announced initial dates for their Anniversary European tour, which will take place this fall. The tour will kick off in Paris on November 15th and run through December 3rd, though more dates will be announced soon. This summer, Motörhead will play a collection of festival dates in Europe and Asia, including Glastonbury and Japan’s Fuji Rock Festival.
The band’s last album, 2013’s Aftershock, was shrouded by Kilmister’s heart condition that kept him off the road. They returned to touring in 2014 and launched the first annual Motörboat Cruise featuring fellow headliners Megadeth and Anthrax. The cruise will set sail again this September, featuring Anthrax and Slayer.
