American rock band Mr. Big will return to India after 15 years, making their way to Bloomverse Festival in Meghalaya on Feb. 14, 2025 and a Bloomverse Express show in Bengaluru on Feb. 16, 2025. Tickets are on sale now via organizers SkillBox.
Mr. Big – best known for songs like “To Be With You” and “Just Take My Heart” – are appearing in India as part of their larger The Big Finish Tour, a farewell run of shows taking place around the world. Formed in 1988, the group grew famous because of music made by seasoned artists such as vocalist Eric Martin, guitarist Paul Gilbert and bassist Billy Sheehan. A press release adds, “The band promises an exciting performance, marking a historic moment in the north east music scene where they will play their million-selling album Lean Into It in its entirety as well as other Mr. Big classics.”
Following the release of their 1989 self-titled album, Lean Into It was out in 1991. While four more albums came along the way, they disbanded in 2002, only to reunite in 2009. The reunion shows brought Mr. Big to Indian shores, including shows in Dimapur and Shillong in October 2009. Additionally, Martin has also toured India as a solo artist, performing Mr. Big hits. The band – whose drummer Pat Torpey passed away in 2018 – now has prog band Spock’s Beard drummer Nick D’Virgilio on drums, and put out their 10th album, Ten, in July this year. The new album comprises songs like “Up On You,” which continue to gain streams, proving Mr. Big’s appeal beyond nostalgia.
More artists and the venues for Bloomverse Festival are yet to be announced, in Meghalaya and Bengaluru. Earlier this year, synthwave band The Midnight were headliners at Bloomverse Festival 2024.
Bloomverse Festival 2025 tickets are currently priced at ₹1,999 for general admission, with a Valentine’s Day couple pass in the general admission section priced at ₹3,499 for Mr. Big’s Meghalaya concert.
