The second edition of the event will feature women who have pushed the envelope in food, music, cinema and more
In a bid to celebrate women who have contributed towards the betterment of Mumbai, be it intellectually, philosophically, financially and more, digital platform She The People has organized the second edition of the Bombaywaali Summit which takes place on October 27th at city-based venue The Hive.
The panels will broach wide-ranging topics that women have excelled in and will include the city’s food scene which will be moderated by food critic Antoine Lewis. The discussion will feature speakers Gauri Devidayal (from the Colaba Cartel Podcast), Chef Sanjana Patel (from La Folie Patisserie) and food journalist Anisha Rachel Oomen.
Says Kiran Manral, Editor, She The People, “We need to have more conversations with women, about women, for women. If you notice, women are still fighting for a seat at the table, despite all the awareness manels continue to abound. These conversations are important so women can speak up, be heard and hear the stories that they will be inspired by.”
A panel on women in music is also slated to take place and feature speakers such as YouTube sensation Vidya Vox, artist manager Lily Ahluwalia and lawyer Priyanka Khimani, moderated by Rolling Stone India Executive Editor Nirmika Singh. Also scheduled are panels on cinema, turning your passion into content, the #MeToo movement and more.
Shaili Chopra, Founder, She The People, adds, “Chaos is the perfect state of the city of Mumbai and this celebration of the women who built Mumbai is to bring out those stories in each one of us. In its second edition, the Bombaywaali Summit brings together a fantastic line up, to reflect on our changing times, our new and old interests and introduces new voices to the ongoing dialogue of the city.”
