Munawar Faruqui is Crowned Bigg Boss 17 Winner
The musician and stand-up comedian was a thorough favorite in public voting on the reality show
Mumbai artist Munawar Faruqui is bringing the Bigg Boss 17 trophy home, after being judged winner at the end of 106 days in the Bigg Boss house and 103 episodes.
The win – which includes a ₹50 lakh cash prize and a car – comes nearly two years after Faruqui, a stand-up comedian and musician who’s often worked in Indian hip-hop, won another reality show, Lock Upp in 2022. Faruqui clinching the top spot in the 17th season of Bigg Boss also makes him the second rapper to win the trophy after Pune’s MC Stan won Bigg Boss 16 last year.
An affable, yet emotional and humble name on the show alongside several public personalities, Faruqui had MC Stan’s support from the first day that he entered the house. In Bigg Boss 16, Faruqui was also supportive of the “Basti Ka Hasti” rapper. This time around, Faruqui competed among fellow finalists such as actors Mannara Chopra, Ankita Lokhande, Abhishek Kumar and gaming YouTuber Arun Srikanth Mashettey in the show hosted by actor Salman Khan.
Faruqui’s Bigg Boss 17 win didn’t come easy, of course, because the format of the reality show often instigates spats (verbal and physical) amongst housemates, venting angst and more. All the while, contestants including Faruqui have come close to being evicted, losing trust and confidence of the house and the public.
Before the artist entered the Bigg Boss house, Faruqui had several hits to his name, including his 2023 album Madari and songs like “Todh.” His most recent solo single was “Legacy” in October last year, but he also featured on Punjabi artist Rashmeet Kaur’s album KAURA, collaborating on the song “Pyar Ki Bahaar.” At the start of the year, Faruqui teamed up with rapper Hitzone and producer Ses on the Beat for the playful “Alag BT.”
