Munawar Faruqui’s ‘Suppamario’ Brings in Aniket Raturi and Karan Kanchan
Hip-hop song sees the ‘Bigg Boss’ winner cut loose and fast on the song that he calls a ‘passion project’
Hip-hop artist Munawar Faruqui talks about how fame hasn’t changed him, among other inspirational messages on his new song “Suppamario,” featuring Dehradun rapper Aniket Raturi and produced by Karan Kanchan.
Over pumped-up, dancefloor-friendly beats by Kanchan, Faruqui raps about the status he’s acquired in life so far, often on the back of his artistic integrity. He specifically references the power of his creativity, with an example of how he sold an “idea” to a channel. He raps, “Likhne ka chod, lera sochne ka paisa (forget writing, I’m charging just for thinking).” Faruqui’s message in the middle of it all is to speak to listeners as an aspirational figure.
Raturi, for his part, comes in with a quickfire verse that references his home ground, from Mussoorie to Dehradun. Both rappers echo that they’re like Super Mario in how they swat away the bugs. In the video directed by Nihar Palwe, the three artists are seen vibing and rapping in a warehouse and parking lot setting, with dancers and party-goers elevating the celebrations.
Faruqui says in a statement about the song, “This track is all about injecting fresh energy into the hip-hop scene. It’s not just a song; it’s a passion project that reflects the vibe and grit we wanted to bring to the audience. Working with Aniket and Karan has been incredible. Their creativity and synergy pushed us to deliver something extraordinary. I’m thrilled about this song — we poured our hearts into it, and I can’t wait for the fans to feel the fire we’ve created together!”
The song might just wrap up Bigg Boss winner Faruqui’s 2024, which has seen collaborations with the likes of Punjabi artist Rashmeet Kaur on her album Kaura, plus rapper Spectra and producer Sez on the Beat on “Dhandho” and “Dark Circles” with producer DRJ Sohail.
