Here are initiatives ranging from Mumbai metal artist Sahil Makhija aka Demonstealer to composer Shankar Mahadevan which are making a difference
After much deliberation, Mumbai metal artist Sahil Makhija better known as Demonstealer decided to shave off his long drawn out beard for charity. Like the most brutal metalhead, Makhija’s beard has been part of his USP for most of his two-decades-long career, whether it was playing festivals with his band Demonic Resurrection or on his YouTube channel Headbanger’s Kitchen. The musician live-streamed his initiative from his YouTube channel where people donated $370 towards COVID-19 relief funds. In addition, Makhija will be matching that figure and donating his own money to charity as well.
Composer Shankar Mahadevan along with Berklee India Exchange have come together for a new version of the 2001 hit track “Dil Chahta Hai” from the Bollywood film of the same title for #BIXCovidFund. Mahadevan is joined by 112 artists from 21 countries to raise money towards marginalized Indian artists whose livelihoods have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
