Music Mojo Announces Festival in Kochi
Junkyard Groove, Agnee, Baiju Dharmajan Syndicate are amongst the bands that will perform at the inaugural Mojo Rising Festival in Kochi this week
Music Mojo, the popular music show on Thiruvananthapuram-based cable channel Kappa TV, has garnered more than 40 million YouTube hits in less than two years for its performance videos featuring bands and artists like pop singer Benny Dayal and prog rock band Coshish. The show’s success has prompted the producers to organize a two-day music festival called Mojo Rising, which kicks off in Kochi later this week. Kappa TV Creative Consultant Sumesh Lal told Radio and Music, “We wanted to bring our Music Mojo artistes out of the studio and have them perform in front of a live audience.”
To be held at the city’s famous Bolgatty Palace, the festival will feature an impressive line-up of more than a dozen bands, a majority of them from the South. The likes of Junkyard Groove, Baiju Dharmajan Syndicate, Suraj Mani and Agnee will be joined by upcoming acts like Thaikkudam Bridge and Black Letters from Kochi, Agam and Tamil rock band Jhanu.
