Naezy Brings Quickfire Rap on ‘Taafu’ From Upcoming EP ‘Fateh’

Mumbai rapper goes a step beyond praising the resilience and spirit of the city to talk about its changing faces

Naezy kicks off the new year with his new song and music video “Taafu” from his upcoming EP Fateh, slated to release via T-Series in the coming months.

The first single sees Naezy’s razor-sharp, quick delivery in Hindi and Urdu, delving into his journey and how intertwined it is with growing up in Mumbai. The “Aafat” rapper has often rapped about Mumbai – which is why he was among the Mumbai artists who popularized Gully rap – but “Taafu” is very much Naezy giving his new and updated thoughts about the city.

With music arranger Vernon Tauro and mix and master by sound engineer Tha Armani, “Taafu” comes with a fast-paced music video directed by filmmaker Manil Kandwal and shot by Vaibhav Yadav. From the steps of the Asiatic Society Town Hall to markets to shots within a studio space, Naezy is rapping the middle of it all.

Naezy says in a statement, “Mumbai is where it all started for me, and no matter how big things get, I’ll never forget where I come from. ‘Taafu’ is a reflection of that journey, and I hope it resonates with anyone who’s had to fight for their dreams.”

A press release adds, “This project has been managed by Chirag Boricha aka Waynem, Naezy’s manager, who has been a driving force behind the rapper’s career and vision, ensuring his journey continues to inspire and make an impact.”

The release comes after mid-2024 singles like “Roshni,” “Akshar” and “Napaak,” plus taking shots at Pakistani hip-hop artist Talha Anjum on “Kya Bey Shaane?” Last year also marked Naezy’s stint in reality T.V., when he took part in Bigg Boss OTT season three, eventually finishing as runner-up to model and actor Sana Makbul.
