The state’s government has partnered with Hard Rock Café to bring more attention to artists from the North East
The coming months, artists from Nagaland will head down to Hard Rock Cafe venues in Delhi and Mumbai for regular shows. The Government of Nagaland has joined hands with the nation-wide venue and restaurant chain to kickstart monthly performances from May to December this year.
The first show features one of Nagaland’s top pop rock artists, Alobo Naga and the Band, on May 12th at Hard Rock Cafe, Delhi. The Dimapur band will headline the venue’s opening leg of global band competition, Hard Rock Rising. In addition to headlining, the band will be on the panel of judges for Hard Rock Rising. Kohima-based jazz band Divine Connection will perform at the June edition [cities and dates to be announced.]
Parliamentary secretary for the Music Task Force, Youth Resources & Sports and State Lotteries, Khriehu Liezietsu, announced that the initiative was born of the need to see more musicians from Nagaland connect with international brands. “The vision”¦ is to expose our musicians to serious music audiences across the country, give them greater visibility and earning opportunity,” stated Liezietsu.
Alobo Naga adds, “There are many good hidden talents in the North East of India [who] don’t get much exposure or platforms to showcase [themselves]. We hope this will open more doors and avenues for bands and artists.”
