Bengaluru singer-songwriter Natauku aka Natasha Carroll sees the funny side of tech addiction and how it ruins relationships in her latest song “11 Days.” She warns in a whimsical drawl while strumming her ukulele: “You always on your phone/You gonna end up sad and alone.”

The next single from Natauku after the more intense release “Cavity,” the artist holds up a humored mirror to how we can be mired deep in doomscrolling to the point that it invariably harms our real-world, offline relationships. At the crux of it, however, the musician still believes there is hope, because humans “look for what is real and familiar, imperfect in a sense” as she states.

She adds in a statement, “Human beings are the most contrary creatures out there. That’s exactly what I tried to do in my song, create a world of acoustic rawness, layered with futuristic synth sounds and telephonic dial tones. Watching the paradoxes dance together.”

Unlike “Cavity,” Natauku’s groovy, dreamy song “11 Days” – reminiscent of artists like Remi Wolf – was self-produced over the span of two months from scratch, following the response she received while debuting the song at Goa venue Hideaway.

While production flourishes certainly elevate the power of “11 Days,” Natauku says she’ll always believe in the “undermined” power of the ukulele. She adds, “My goal is to break stereotypes about the instrument by creating unconventional ukulele music paired with the most odd sounds and humorous lyrics that are relatable. If you’re a procrastinator, if you have anger issues, if you long for more intimacy but a screen is getting more action than you have, then this is the song for you.”
