Mumbai-based bassist-producer NATE08 aka Nathan Thomas and artist Azamaan Hoyvoy stay inseparable as a combo, leveling up with grooves and words of optimism on their new single “Inna Minute.”
Building up a house-informed beat that imbues soul and funk elements, “Inna Minute” comes across as a ray of sunshine or a hopeful song to power through a late night. “The song is about finding hope and faith in a world that can sometimes seem dark and challenging and the lyrics describe the realization of a lack in the feeling and faith they need, but cannot complain about it,” NATE08 says.
Coming after NATE08’s punchy album Furaha from 2022, “Inna Minute” marks the artist’s first release of the year as well, one that can do well to get the dancefloors moving in an instant. A press release describes the making of the song as a result of “open-ended studio sessions” but the decision to work with Hoyvoy was a “quick and natural one” for NATE08.
The producer says in a statement, “When I finished making this track I knew it needed some vocals on it and I couldn’t think of anyone else but Azamaan to put something down on this one. His ideas and approach are really unconventional but also really catchy and smart at the same time.”
Following a few live sets and DJ gigs around the country in recent times, a deluxe edition of Furaha was also released earlier in June, including remixes, via U.K. label Needwant. The album features another collaboration with Hoyvoy, “Trigger Fool,” plus artists like Manipur-origin Lojal on “Feel It,” singer Naisha on “Primrose” and vocalist Megan Murray on “Want You.”
