Indian film fanatics are in for a treat on October 13 as the country celebrates National Cinema Day.

Multiplex Association of India (MAI) has announced that Indian fans will be able to watch films at a much more affordable price for one day.

Movie tickets will be available for as low as ₹99, excluding premium formats.

How to book tickets?

The tickets for the National Cinema Day 2023 can be booked online via BookMyShow, PayTM, and official cinema chain websites.

Mostly all current Bollywood films such as Jawaan, Mission Raniganj, and Fukrey 3 are selling at discounted prices.

Tickets for international films such as The Exorcist: Believer are also selling at a discounted rate.

History of National Cinema Day

After the COVID-19 pandemic, the MAI decided to devote one day to mark the reopening of cinema halls.

MAI envisioned National Cinema Day as “a way to show solidarity and support for cinema hall owners who faced substantial losses during the pandemic.”

In 2022, over 6.5 million people visited the theatres on National Cinema Day.

This year, over 4,000 screens will be celebrating the occasion with cinemas such as PVR Inox, Cinepolis, Miraj, City Pride, Asian, Mukta A2, Movie Time, Wave, M2K, Delite, and many others participating.

“This special occasion brings audiences of all ages together for a day of cinematic bliss, celebrating the incredible success of multiple films at the box office this year,” MIA said in their statement last year.

“It’s a heartfelt thank you to all the moviegoers who contributed to this success and an open invitation to those who haven’t yet returned to their local cinema.”
