Scottish hard rock veterans Nazareth have announced that they will be touring in India this April. The band will perform at Polo Grounds in Shillong on April 8th and then at the Tribal Arts Center in Aizawl on April 11th.

Nazareth formed in 1968 and released their eponymous debut album in 1971. The band gained international fame due to their cover of country duo Boudleaux Bryant’s “Love Hurts” featured on their sixth studio album Hair of the Dog; the track became their one and only US Top Ten hit, also featuring in the top ten lists of nine other countries. The band currently comprises vocalist Carl Sentence, bassist Pete Agnew, guitarist Jimmy Murrison and drummer Lee Agnew;  original frontman Dan McCafferty left the group in 2015 due to illness while original drummer Darrell Sweet had died in 1999, leaving Agnew as the last founding member in the lineup.

Guns ”˜N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose was known to be a fan of Nazareth, covering and featuring their track “Hair of the Dog” on Guns ”˜N’ Roses’ fifth studio album The Spaghetti Incident?. Rose had even requested the band to perform at his wedding, which they declined.
