The four-city college competition and music festival, which took place in Hyderabad last week, travels to Bengaluru, Delhi and Mumbai this month
America’s National Basketball Association [NBA] has been pushing the sport in India consistently for the last five years, with its competitive three-on-three competitions held across major cities. This year, the first edition of NBA Jam includes gigs [some with free entry, the best combination] in the mix with bands performing in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Delhi and Mumbai this month.
While the Hyderabad edition that took place last week, featured performances by Chennai alt rockers Junkyard Groove and Goan EDM artist Anish Sood, a city-wide strike in Hyderabad on September 7th made organizers cancel performances by fusion/electronica act Bandish Projekt and hip hop group Bombay Bassment.
Bombay Bassment, however, will get another chance to play at the Bengaluru edition’s second day, on September 15th, alongside Bengaluru EDM artist Vachan Chinnappa. Bengaluru alt rockers Galeej Gurus and tribal/techno artist Tuhin Mehta perform on the first day in Bengaluru, on September 14th.
Other names slated to to play at NBA Jam include dub group The Ska Vengers, house/techo DJ Arjun Vagale and EDM artist Sahej Bakshi aka Dualist Inquiry in Delhi between September 20th and 22nd. The Mumbai edition features performances by alt rock band The Colour Compound and EDM duo Lost Stories on September 27th and the finale also slated to take place at Mumbai’s Mehboob Studios, will feature electro pop duo Shaa’ir + Func on September 29th.
