NCPA Mumbai Opens Doors To Live Performances

The institution is all set to welcome live performances in a safe and regulated manner

The National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) announces its return from the digital world with a series of offline events, satiating the souls of art lovers residing in Mumbai.

Adhering to all standard safety protocols issued by the Government, including permitting entry of full-vaccinated employees, social distancing and regular temperature checks; the premier cultural institution is back stronger than ever, committed to re-instilling love for music, dance, theatre, film, literature and photography in an offline setting after nearly one-and-a-half years.

Complying with the Government’s rules the NCPA closed its doors physically in March 2021 but opened a brand new chapter in the institution’s legacy. Going fully offline, NCPA persevered and continued to celebrate artists in the virtual world through the screening of its lectures and performances on digital platforms.

With India slowly opening up, NCPA is hitting the gas pedal on its re-opening plans with an array of live shows parked for the coming weeks. Check out what NCPA has lined up for this weekend:

Eka Lagnachi Pudhachi Gosht (Marathi Play)

In hopes of re-igniting the spark in his marriage of two decades, Manya resorts to senseless advice by his cassanova friend, Puru and agrees to have an extra-marital affair in hopes of saving his marriage with his wife, Mani. What follows next is a hilarious tale of awkward events at home and office which Mani can’t seem to escape.

Blast From The Past

Promising a euphonious experience of classical hits, NCPA welcomes you to an evening with renowned Grammy-nominated jazz pianist/keyboardist, composer, music director and producer; Louiz Banks. Stirring nostalgia on a Saturday evening, the audience can also expect to see guest vocalists, Thomson Andrews, Trisha Rego, Shanelle Ferreira, accompanied by Gino Banks, Kush Upadhyay, Sheldon D’Silva and Rahul Jhunjhunwala adding their artistry to the evening.

SOI Chambre Orchestra

Led by music director Marat Bisengaliev, the SOI Chamber Orchestra returns to the stage with a curated performance of classics featuring members of the SOI as soloists. The programme is set to bring to you Vivaldi: Concerto for four violins, Bach: Brandenburg Concerto No. 3, Rossini: String Sonata No. 3 and Haydn: Cello Concerto No. 1.
