NCT 127 Confirm Release of New Music This September

The news comes roughly 11 months after the release of their third repackaged album, 'Favorite'

Following a slew of rumors and spoilers from group members, South Korean entertainment giant SM Entertainment has finally confirmed NCT 127’s comeback.

Earlier today, South Korean news outlet Sports Chosun reported that the group is in the final stages of their album production (scheduled to release in September) and will be shooting their music today. According to Soompi, a source from SM Entertainment has confirmed the news: “NCT 127 is currently filming their new music video, and they are preparing a new album with an aim to make a September comeback. Please look forward to it.” The upcoming release will mark the group’s first comeback in 11 months following their October 2021 repackaged album, Favorite.

The confirmation comes shortly after the group’s Japan fan-meet where NCT and NCT 127’s leader Taeyong declared that the group’s untitled release is his favorite song, “My favorite songs are ‘Cherry Bomb,’ ‘Boss’ and ‘Kick It,'” he revealed during the fan-meet, adding, “But the new song has surpassed them all.” It is worth noting that both “Cherry Bomb” and “Kick It” have been instrumental in shaping and cementing the group’s unique, experimental sonic identity, with the latter single becoming NCT 127’s most iconic release.

During the event, Taeyong briefly spoiled the track’s choreography, right before the group’s vocalist Haechan stepped in, preventing Taeyong from revealing anything further. Actor-vocalist Doyoung has also been teasing NCT 127’s highly anticipated comeback via the fan-messaging app Bubble. However, the spoilers train had left the station long before their Japan fan-meet. The first major spoiler came during NCT 127’s sixth anniversary livestream, where the members revealed that the choreography of the new track includes a “driving move.”

According to SM A&R team unit’s head, NCT 127’s new album is “witty.” “Your attitude needs to show you’re witty,” NCT’s A&R head revealed during the YouTube content N Quiz on the Kwangya. She continued, “When you perform the song, you need to show that you’re witty and relaxed. From the lyrics, you can tell this person is witty.

In other news, vocalist Jaehyun is all set to release his first NCT Lab release this month.
