An ensemble cast led by Manoj Bajpayee, Kay Kay Menon, Ali Fazal and Harshvardhan Kapoor are protagonists in Netflix’s anthology series Ray, set to hit screens on June 25th. The trailer of the new psychological-thriller anthology series points toward a star-packed first season, adapting four different stories of the multi-faceted cinema legend Satyajit Ray based on “ego, revenge, envy and betrayal” in a modern version.

The trailer kicks off with a voiceover comparing humankind to God – “Aren’t we all like God? Even we are creators.” Bajpayee, The Family Man star, appears in the avatar of shayar Muzafar Ali who seeks lost fame and ends up tinkering with time itself in the story Hungama Hai Kyon Barpa; in Behrupiya, Kay Kay Menon, who plays a 9-5 corporate sector employee, goes out of his way to create art with makeup; We are also introduced to Harshwardhan Sisodia in the story Spotlight as a Bollywood star whose encounter with a God-woman leaves him astonished yet amused only to be pulled into a world of superstitions. Finally, in the short story Forget Me Not, Ali Fazal plays Ipsit Nair, a super-intelligent man with the “memory of a computer” but loses his edge as his life takes unexpected turns. While the story aims to expose the shortcomings of man exposed by revenge, envy and pride, the voiceover concludes by warning that comparing oneself to God will only lead to one’s destruction.

A team of three award-winning directors helm this thrilling watch – Filmfare Award winner Abhishek Chaubey (Udta Punjab, Omkara), National Award winner Srijit Mukherji (Begum Jaan, Autograph) and Cannes nominee Vasan Bala (Mard Ko Dard Nahin Hota).
