Musicians Dee Wood and Storms’ collaboration brings together ambient sounds and modern music

A musician’s journey is made up of the essence of their experiences. They hear and absorb sounds from their environment, which the rest of us take for granted or don’t notice, much like an author or an artist observing their world as material for their creative work.
Musicians Dee Wood and Storms have released a single called “Time Travel” as part of their new collaborative act, The Indica Project. The tune is based on their collective exposure to ambient sounds and the duo have cleverly, with tongue in cheek, taken us on a musical trip.
An alumni of Berklee School of Music in Boston, Dee Wood has been a much-respected guitar and, later, bass player and is also an educator of repute. His insight into the roots of modern music translate here into an esoteric confluence of street sounds heard in Mumbai and Maharashtra, played with a hurried flow that exemplifies the tempo of life in the city. It could well be a score for a short film on the festivals of the region.
Storms has maintained a low profile but he’s an extremely talented musician who has ‘paid his dues,’ musically while living and playing in New York.
Interestingly, this isn’t the first collaboration between the two artists. They have earlier worked together on an album titled Horn OK Please.
“Time Travel” is worth a serious listen, and it’s a concept that will resonate with every urban listener.
