New Electronica Series Winds Up Its First Edition In Delhi

Headlining act DJ Su Real in the Gurgaon edition of the Superdry Live Series

From monthly All-Starr Jamms [the extra letters are necessary] to a Social Club in Bengaluru ”“ fashion stores are the new gig venues. At least that’s going by the recent number of fashion brands turning to hosting gigs. Following suit is UK clothing brand Superdry, who hosted London beatboxer Beardyman at the launch of their first store in Mumbai in December last year. A year on, there’s the Superdry Live Series, organized by Mumbai music retail store Bajaao, which gives upcoming DJs around the country a chance to spin their tunes to audiences outside the usual house party. 

The Superdry Live Series has travelled across various cities like Mumbai, Gurgaon, Pune, Chandigarh and Chennai to hunt for India’s best EDM talent. The EDM competition finally travels to Delhi to select a winner in the last regional round, with a closing performance by Mumbai-based future garage artist Sandunes, who will also judge the Delhi leg. The competing artists in the Delhi leg are Swaggamuffin, MojoJojo and Little Brontosaurus.

The finale of Superdry Live Series will also be held in Delhi this week with performances by EDM artists from six cities, who will compete to win an opening slot for an international electronica act in Delhi in February 2014. Delhi audio/visual techno duo BLOT!, who are also the judges for the finale, will perform an hour-long set, bringing the first edition of Superdry Live to a close.

Established artists like Delhi-based DJ Su Real, Mumbai-based dubstep breakbeat act Bay Beat Collective, Mumbai-based DJ and producer Nanok, Delhi-based producer Tarqeeb and Chennai-based DJ Dominic Rozario headlined and judged the competition in the various cities.
