Aarya Ganesan – “Kaadhale”
Bengaluru-based singer-songwriter Aarya Ganesan’s latest single is the calming and melodic “Kaadhale.” The bilingual track, sung by Ganesan in English and Tamil, includes delicately plucked guitar parts, gentle drums and the musician’s serene vocals. In a statement, the artist said, “[It is] a song about loving someone who loves someone else. This song is a moody yet passionate take on letting someone go, and all the hopes and dreams you associated with them.”
Krishna.K – “Chapter”
Chennai singer-songwriter Krishna.K’s first piece of new music in two years comes in the shape of the acoustic ditty “Chapter.” The fresh song includes stunningly beautiful vocals and harmonies as a single acoustic guitar, plucked and strummed, adds to the quaint listen. In a statement, the artist, “‘Chapter’ is about the temporary: accepting realities, missed chances, and uncertainty in all realms of love I’ve experienced.”
Archita Ajgaokar – “Fake It”
Mumbai-based singer-songwriter Archita Ajgaokar delivers a slick alt-pop/rock debut single with “Fake It.” The song features a booming bassline, steely guitar work, thumping drums as well as Ajgaokar’s soaring vocals. The artist said in a statement, “The song was written when I had my first heartbreak.”
Vinayak Rajan – Desperado Blues
New York/New Delhi singer-songwriter Vinayak Rajan recently released his new five-track EP titled Desperado Blues. The record covers various soundscapes such as acoustic music to indie-rock and even pop. In a statement, Rajan said, “This EP encapsulates the cyclical journey of a love story which goes from being in isolation to getting your heart broken and being isolated again. It expresses an emotion that a broken heart has felt, and by the end of it, you would’ve accepted the fact that love is a bittersweet emotion.”
Dear Kokum – “Call Me Baby”
Mumbai singer-songwriter Dear Kokum (formerly known as k o k u m) has finally released a song she’s had in the bank since 2018. The track is called “Call Me Baby” and features dreamy acoustic instrumentation, Kokum’s resounding vocals, her picturesque lyrics and more. In a statement, the artist said, “‘Call Me Baby’ takes you back to your first love. Not necessarily a person, but a feeling. A feeling too many of us have forgotten.”
Lost Stories, Jai Dhir – Marigold Soundsystem
Mumbai electronic music duo Lost Stories – comprising artists Prayag Mehta and Rishab Joshi – have joined forces with vocalist Jai Dhir for the folk-meets-electro-pop three-track EP called Marigold Soundsystem. In a statement Mehta said, “The feel of the tracks along with the dulcet voice of Jai brings back the nostalgia for big Indian weddings.” Joshi added, “We are combining our folk roots with modern-day electronica, cinematic interludes and the forgotten simplicity of nostalgia that we’re known to bring out in our music.”
