As much as I’d like to say that this is a whole new Nickelback, I can’t. The sounds of the band you know are still there, with a little more oomph. And while the songs weave in and out of themes such as drugs, sex, rock n’ roll, the album focuses mostly on having a good time. ”˜This Afternoon’ sounds like Jack Johnson on a rock kick, and it’s even got the dude element with lyrics such as “We got weeds in the backyard 4 feet tall/Cheech and Chong prob’ly woulda’smoked ’em all” which gets you tapping your feet along and even joining in on the chorus. ”˜I’ll Come For You,’ ”˜Something In Your Mouth,’ ”˜Just To Get High’ and ”˜S.E.X’ are the four songs where you see an explosion of sexual innuendos and suggestive lyrics, but keeping in tune with their raw rock, the band doesn’t seem to make the songs sound as dirty as you’d expect it to be. As for a new Nickelback fan, this is a good album to start with. It’s got elements of everything a rock
