Nidhi Wagle Revisits Toxicity on New Single ‘Friday Night’

The track is the Mumbai-based singer-songwriter’s first release of 2023

Mumbai-based singer-songwriter Nidhi Wagle’s tryst with music started at an early age. Wagle began learning the drums and trained in Hindustani classical vocals at the age of nine and soon after picked up the guitar and keyboard. While in school in the U.A.E., the artist was always involved with her school choir and band. Upon moving to Mumbai, the musician graduated in music production and composition from the city-based Whistling Woods International.

Now a full-time musician, Wagle has released a bunch of singles in English and Hindi since 2020, and recently dropped her latest offering, the ethereal “Friday Night.”

Although “Friday Night” was Initially penned as an entry for a songwriting competition, Wagle says, “After all the work was done, I actually ended up loving the song much more than I expected.” The track includes a dark pop sound while Wagle’s pensive vocals add to the eerie nature of the song. The singer worked with producers Shivansh Agarwal and Animesh Panigrahi on the track, while Rahul Agrawat mixed and mastered it.

Talking about the song’s lyrics, Wagle says, “This song talks about the desire to revisit familiarity even after knowing the problems that come with it. [It is] essentially the story of a girl who can’t stop herself from craving and remembering someone who has been toxic in the past, and these thoughts may be heightened when you’re alone or under the influence.”

Wagle has been keeping herself busy performing at gigs and writing new songs. She plans on releasing some of those tracks in the near future. “I love telling stories through my music and I can’t wait for everyone to hear them,” she says.
