The drummer, guitarist, vocalist and producer also directed the music video in Haflong, Assam

Multi-instrumentalist Nishant Hagjer.
Guwahati drummer, guitarist, vocalist and producer Nishant Hagjer melds pop, electronic, metal and more in his new project Angels of Doom’s debut offering “The Underdog.” The song was launched on July 29th, to coincide with Hagjer’s turning 29 years old.
Hagjer, best known for his work with metal bands like in the North East, New Delhi and even Nepal, says he’d been working on material since 2010 but “never found a home for my music.” With Angels of Doom, “The Underdog” is lyrically autobiographical, but sonically a rollercoaster ride. Everything from trap beats to Slipknot-esque spiraling beatdowns and more make it to “The Underdog.” It’s not so much about combining styles as much as it is being honest to who he is as a musician. “I didn’t and don’t follow any musical formulas or algorithms, this is just pure music and words from my heart,” he adds.
Hagjer says, “I’ve always been extremely shy to put out my music.” The music video, shot in the Assamese town of Haflong, is directed and edited by Hagjer as well and sees him look effortlessly cool and intense all at once. “My team and I shot this video in our beautiful Haflong, Dima Hasao, Assam. Very fortunate to have access to such beautiful locations that we can call home,” the artist adds.
Angels of Doom comes after Hagjer has, by his own admission, been in a “crazy number of bands” over more than a decade. He says, “Despite being in the industry for quite a while, I feel like my journey has finally begun now.”
