The newly opened Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) in Mumbai is a state-of-the-art facility that is set to play host as a home for the arts in India. Within the building is an art gallery, a studio theater, a grand theater and massive pavilions for any sort of event too.

Amongst the venues within NMACC is one called The Cube. The 125-seater room is set to serve as a place to promote emerging Indian artists from new and experimental genres. A press statement said, “With a moveable stage and seating, the space is dedicated to incubating new ideas and talent and invites the audience to be a part of performances. It lends itself to out-of-the-box artistic experiences with provisions for arena, thrust and end stage-style seating, LED-driven theatrical lighting system and more.”

Events at The Cube begin this week with performances by Indian classical and fusion artists Sarang Kulkarni and Shikhar Naad Qureshi on April 3rd, singer-songwriters Maalavika Manoj aka Mali and Kamakshi Khanna on April 5th and electronic artist Tarun Balani aka Seasonal Affected Beats teaming up with photographer Parizad D for an audio-visual showcase on April 8th.

According to the statement, “The opening programming reflects the Centre’s commitment to portray varied art forms through a kaleidoscopic journey of the contemporary and the traditional. A truly diverse range of performances await. Musical performances by pathbreaking Indie artists, dramatic reprises of Indian mythology, riveting dance recitals, edgy new formats of performative storytelling, multi-act gigs in music, dance and theater and fresh artistic collaborations.”

The schedule for next week is already out and will witness performances by artists such as Ronkini Gupta, Dosti No Dayro and others. Tickets to attend shows at The Cube are priced at ₹250. The low pricing of tickets is to ensure that people from all walks of life can be part of the experience.
