Noiseware, Digital Suicide to perform at Monsoon Beats

The one day metal festival will be held in Imphal this June

Event organizers Club Muzik announced a one-day metal festival in Imphal in Manipur. Called Monsoon Beats, the festival that will be held on June 2nd will feature local bands like Rubicons, The Wishes and Magdalene. Guwahati-based Digital Suicide and Noiseware from Pune will be closing the fest.

“We recently had India’s first metal convention in Imphal in April this year. At Club Muzik, we have been working on putting together a metal fest since last year. At the convention, we realized that Manipur would be the perfect place to host a metal fest with bands coming in from all over the country to share the same stage,” explains Ithoiba Potshangbam, co-organizer.
Monsoon Beats is planned as an annual festival, explains Potshangbam. “I would really like Monsoon Beats to become a bigger property. The North East is the home of metal with brilliant bands who go unheard. This is a homegrown fest and it should become bigger with more bands adding to the lineup each year,” says Potshangbam.

Unlike other music festivals, Monsoon Beats is a fest with a cause. “We have a theme for the festival, which is ”˜Rage Against Crime.’ We are protesting the rise in crimes against residents of Manipur. We will be donating 10 per cent of our earnings through the event towards children homes,” says Potshangbam.

Monsoon Beats 2012 will be held at the YAC Grounds, Imphal on June 2nd, 2012. Tickets will be available at the venue. For more information, log onto their Facebook page.
