President Obama took a hilarious jab at GOP candidate Donald Trump  on Thursday’s Tonight Show , telling Jimmy Fallon he’s been binge-watching his favorite TV show, “Orange Is Not the New Black.” The “Commander-in-Preach” landed that joke about the real estate mogul’s skin complexion during a politically tinted edition of “Slow Jam the News.”
With his presidential stint winding down, Obama surveyed his accomplishments over the past eight years while the Roots unfurled a seductive soul groove. “When I first took office, our nation was facing one of the worst recessions in its history,” he said. “Since then, we’ve added more than 14 million new jobs and lowered the unemployment rate to under five percent. Through the actions of my administration, we were able to stimulate the economy and get our country back on track.””Ahh yeah,” Fallon followed up in his deep lover-man voice. “President Obama stimulated long-term growth ”¦ in both the public and the private sector. In 2008, the country wasn’t feeling in the mood. It was too tired, stressed, said it had a headache. Barack lit some candles and got some silky satin sheets. He told the American people, ‘Yes, we can.'” The segment also included Obama’s brief, yet memorable cover of Rihanna’s “Work.”Obama also summarized spearheading many progressive social and environmental policies, including clean energy development, the Affordable Care Act and the legalization of same-sex marriage. “His first two terms ended in such a hurry,” the Roots’ Black Thought crooned in response. “Wish he could go for three like my man Steph Curry.”
The president cautioned Americans that “the entire world is watching” in this upcoming election, as guitarist “Captain” Kirk Douglas unleashed a psychedelic guitar solo. In a final slow-jam aside, Black Thought summarized the mindset of some Americans this election season: “Once you go Barack, you will never go back.”
