Undying Inc Are Bringing Metal Mayhem to Open-Air Gig Oktopus in Pune This Week
The lineup also includes local acts such as Ragnhild, Kill The King, Cruoris and Cladinshadows
The outdoor lawns of Pune venue Cadilac are about to see some rumble and tumble this week, as they host metal gig series Oktopus on October 8th. The day-long gig will be headlined by New Delhi-origin metallers Undying Inc, with support coming from Pune-based acts like death metal act Ragnhild, thrash metallers Kill The King, death metallers Cruoris and melodic-death metal band Cladinshadows.
Oktopus Metal Fest, put together by event organizers Blood Eagle and Psycle Events, has been selling their tickets offline and online, adding to the old-school DIY ethos of Indian metal gigs seen around the country. Online tickets are currently priced at ₹699. Oktopus will also see more experiential elements being setup alongside metal mayhem, including visual-mapping, an art showcase, merchandise stalls, food pop-ups and themed decor.
Undying Inc — comprising guitarist Biswarup Gupta, vocalist Sunneith Revankar, bassist Ezra Helios and drummer Jerry Nelson Ranee — will arrive in Pune to perform new and old material, including their 2022 single “Open Source Degenerate.” Revankar spoke about their set in an Instagram video and said, “Our friends at Oktopus have put together what promises to be one of the most unique live metal experiences that the country has witnessed and we are super stoked to be a part of it. Expect the newer stuff, expect the older stuff, we also have in place a very special treat for fans of old-school power-groove.”
Kill The King, for their part, are performing a month prior to releasing their debut self-titled album, which is out on November 3rd. The band recently put out a music video for “Money Talks” in September and are currently taking pre-orders for the nine-track album.
Cruoris are performing in Pune after nearly a year, while Ragnhild too are returning to the stage after a gig in July, which marked their comeback after three years away. Often known for being influenced by “Viking metal” and death metal alike, Ragnhild said on Instagram, “Join us for a mind-blowing night of headbanging, moshing, and embracing your inner viking! Let’s make this an epic experience together!”
