As the Summer Olympics in Paris nears kickoff on July 26, Indian and Indian-origin artists Shaan, Raghu Dixit Project, Penn Masala and Tommy Khosla & Jawari have been announced to perform at the first-ever India House curated by the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC).

With tickets priced at €5 per person for the concerts, India House is set up at Parc de la Villette in Paris between July 27 and August 11. A press release says, “The first-ever India House, conceptualized by Reliance Foundation as part of their partnership with the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), is gearing up to bring the rich legacy of Indian music to mark a phenomenal celebration of India.  It will also pay an ode to India’s rich arts and culture through its daily programming specially curated by the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre, marking its global entry.”

Shaan, the Bollywood hitmaker who had his breakthrough as a pop artist in 2000, is prepping an uplifting performance at India House in Paris. His setlist is slated to include Indian film songs such as “Tanha Dil” and “Deewangi Deewangi.”

Dixit, for his part, is performing as part of his album launch tour on the back of releasing his third full-length album, Shakkar earlier in July. Indian-origin American act Penn Masala, the popular vocal group, will also perform at India House as part of the Olympics on the back of releasing their new song “Throw It Away” in June.

London-based sitarist and composer Tommy Khosla will bring his Latin jazz, hip-hop and electronic music-informed fusion with the multi-disciplinary collective Jawari. The collective includes Latin Grammy award-winner and percussionist Gregorio Merchán, guitarist Taylor Frost, saxophonist Billie Sophoclides and Nashville’s first Youth Poet Laureate Lagnajita Mukhopadhyay.

In addition to music, India House – which commemorates 100 years since India competed at the Olympic Games for the first time under the aegis of the IOA in 1920 – will also feature craft installations, yoga sessions and dance performances, promising “an immersion in culture, arts, technology, sports or gastronomy,” according to the website.
