Omar Apollo is honoring some of his favorite choreographers with his new video. On Tuesday, the Mexican American star released the visual for God Said No‘s “Drifting,” featuring choreography by Keone and Mari Madrid.

“I’m so tired of climbing/I can’t let go/Maybe I should let go,” sings Apollo on the track. Shot in the desert, the video features a group of dancers performing interpretive choreography to the song’s lyrics about longing.

“I grew up watching all of Keone and Mari’s videos,” Apollo wrote on X about the video. “He came over and I told him what the song ‘Drifting’ was about and meant to me.”

“He made a music video that represents and embodies what the song is visually and emotionally,” Apollo added. “Couldn’t be more grateful to collaborate with somebody who inspires me as much as he does.”

Both Keone and Mari Madrid shared their appreciation for Apollo on his Instagram post about the video.

“Your music holds so much and it’s a joy to create to. Love to you Omar, love to the beautiful people that helped make this, and love into the world,” wrote Mari in the comments. “Getting to create with you + this song mean a lot to me, couldn’t be more grateful,” added Keone.

The new visual for “Drifting” arrives several weeks after he released his album God Said No, which earned a 4-star review from Rolling Stone, and featured songs such as “Less of You,” “Spite,” and “Glow.”

In the review of the record, writer Larisha Paul wrote, “The 14-track collection mourns, in equal parts, the person he used to be and the relationship that left him irrevocably changed.”
