Online Game: Farragomate

Everyone’s played this drinking game where, after copious amounts of alcohol are consumed, you have to string random words together to make sentences that make no sense at all but has everyone in splits. Farragomate is the teetotaller’s version of the same. What you are given is a whole bunch of random words with verbs, nouns, prepositions and what have you. Your job is to string them together in the most awesome sentence you can construct in 60 seconds. Sounds simple? It’s anything but. By the time you’ve scanned the words you’ve been given, half your time is gone and by the end you probably have a sentence that sounds something like “Enthusiastic gooses could tighten monster metal mackerel and forget farmyard”¦” Chuckle-worthy? Definitely. But it doesn’t end there.

What happens next is that your entry, along with other players’ in the game, is put up on an anonymous list for a vote. Everyone is given 30 seconds to vote. The winner get 5 points, those who vote for the winner get 1 point and obviously, player with the most points after 10 rounds wins.

This is one of the more interesting games to play simply because it rules out any dependency on crappy AI to spoil your fun. It’s also a community game so you’ll find yourself making a lot of sesquipedalian friends online if you spend enough time playing this. The only problem is that it requires a fairly good internet connection to get going and this can get to be a pain. There are also times when you’re the only player and you have to wait and wait for someone else to take an interest. On the bright side, you can ask any of your friends (up to 10) in any part of the world to join in simply by giving their nickname. Add some alcohol to the mix and this game could have some serious potential”¦
