The collective is set to perform in New Delhi, Goa and Mumbai
Swiss Dance Collective, Ouinch Ouinch, is set to embark on its debut tour across three major Indian cities this festive season from December 20th to December 24th, 2023.
Under the spotlight in New Delhi’s Boxout Wednesdays, Goa’s Serendipity Arts Festival, and Mumbai’s Soho House, Ouinch Ouinch is prepared to enter the dance landscape across the Indian live music circuit with their production, ‘Happy Hype’—a proclaimed call to “let go and dance!”
Amidst reinvented traditional dances and a whimsically vibrant clubbing atmosphere, the Swiss performers blend genres and eras, all the while maintaining a lighthearted approach, determined to enchant the surrounding audience. Ouinch Ouinch embraces derision with elegance, adhering to their motto: proudly declaring their uniqueness and spreading their infectious zest for life through dynamic and invigorating dance.
Fueled by the collective energy of the group, spectators are invited to immerse themselves in a shared euphoria that celebrates the exhilarating and unifying influence of music and dance. Inspired by the Hype Call derived from Krump culture, Happy Hype attempts to channel the spirit of this dance form originating in the 1990s Los Angeles suburbs. In this practice, dancers, spurred on by the encouragement of those around them, enter a trance-like state. Guided by the rhythms of urban Afro and hip-hop, mixed by their DJ – DJ Mulah, the collective wholeheartedly engages, sharing the exhilarating and infectious joy of celebrating bodies in motion.
Ouinch Ouinch: Happy Hype India tour is supported by Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia, boxout.fm and The Embassy of Switzerland in India and Bhutan under the initiative “SwitzerlandIndia 75: Success Stories to Be Continued”
