The big draws from day two at the Bangalore edition of Bacardi NH7 Weekender
Day Two – December 16th
Goddess Gagged ”“ 3.30-4.10pm ”“ Bacardi Black Rock Arena
The Mumbai post-hardcore quartet just opened for rock heavies Guns N’ Roses in Mumbai last week, and they’ll be getting things started on the second day of the festival, playing songs such as “Modern Machines” and “Sink Or Swim” from their album Resurfaces.
Â
The Shakey Rays ”“ 4.10-4.50pm ”“ Fully Fantastic Stage
The Chennai indie rockers are traveling west to play at their second home. Get ready to groove to some catchy tunes like “Down The Drain & 8 Floors High,” “Let’s Build A Home” and “Sleeping In The Back Of Her Car.”
Â
Susheela Raman ”“ 5.10-6pm ”“ The Dewarists
There’s no better artist suited for the Dewarists stage than the British-Tamil singer. Today, Raman will be performing tracks off her 2011 album Vel, including “Raise Up,” “Ennapane” and “Vel Undu” as well as other stirring tracks such as “Maya” and “Mamavatu.”
Â
Under the Influence ”“ 6-6.30pm ”“ The Other Stage
This piano-led alternative duo consisting of Abhijit Lahiri and Ashutosh Thatte has got a prime slot to perform their upbeat electronica-influenced songs. The duo will perform songs such as “Distraction,” “Doormat” and “Distance.”
Â
Bangalore Metal Project ”“ 6.30-7.30pm ”“ Bacardi Black Rock Arena
Things are going to get old school just as members from Bengaluru’s rock and thrash/death metal bands take to the stage. This includes the likes of Ganesh Krishnaswamy [vocalist of stoner/doom band Bevar Sea], KP Krishnamoorthy [guitarist of technical death metal band Myndsnare], Nolan Lewis [vocalist and guitarist from old school metallers Kryptos] and Yadhunandan Nagaraj [drummer with thrash/death metal band Verses], among others.
Â
The Raghu Dixit Project ”“ 6.30-7.20pm ”“ The Dewarists
For those who aren’t big on the metal collective, there’s Raghu Dixit. The singer and his merry men seem to be on an endless tour, having played at the W.O.R.M.E festival in Delhi a couple of days ago. Hopefully, the home crowd will see a special set of his folk rock tunes.
Â
Martina Topley-Bird ”“ 7.20-8pm ”“ The Other Stage
The British singer has crooned with trip hop act Massive Attack in the past, but her own solo work leans into the pop side of trip hop. If her recent tours are any indication, Topley-Bird will probably throw in a few songs from Maxinquaye, her 2005 album with trip hoppers Tricky. For the catch all you can festivalgoers, you can hop to the Eristoff Wolves Den later to see Austrian beatboxers Bauchklang get the crowd moving without any computerized beats.
Â
Scribe ”“ 7.50-8.30pm ”“ Bacardi Black Rock Arena
The Mumbai hardcore band didn’t disappoint at the Delhi Weekender in October, and now they’ll be road testing some new tunes from their upcoming album Hail Mogambo.
Â
PINKNOISE and Friends ”“ 8.20-9pm ”“ Fully Fantastic Stage
The “late night alter-ego” of Kolkata alt rock band Skinny Alley will be playing with every note possible as their experimental rock tunes such as “Spaceman Spliff” and “Big Pig” with a little help from friends who will be paying tribute to departed scene veteran and Skinny Alley bassist Gyan Singh.
Â
Periphery ”“ 9-9.50pm ”“ Bacardi Black Rock Arena
The American progressive metallers are a big draw for modern metal fans. There’s going to be a divide between guitar geeks and slam dancers as the band rips through songs such as “Zylgrox,” “Icarus Lives!” “Make Total Destroy” and “Scarlet.”
