Sound of A Rebel (Special Indian Edition) [Three stars] El Moro/Sony Music Key Tracks: ‘Rock All Day’ and ‘Feels Like Saving The World’
Four years after wowing the Indian audiences with their rendition of Khaled’s ”˜Aicha,’ Outlandish is back with an album that is definitely worth the wait. This two CD set comes with 12 new songs and 7 songs remixes of songs from their old albums ”“ including a remix of ”˜Aicha,’ and original recordings of ”˜Walou’ and ”˜Guantanamo’ from Bread and Barrels of Water ”“ and features a whole slew of artists that listeners should be on the lookout for in a few years to come. Mixing their diverse musical heritages into this album, the band gives each song has a different flavour. Spanish influences come through with Lenny Martinez rapping on almost every song in his native tongue, while Waqas Qadri meldshis Pakistani heritage and love for Bollywood movies to Isam Bachiri’s melodic voice. The first single ”˜Rock All Day’ is a party anthem, while the others talk about missing that special someone (”˜Always Remember’), youth (”˜Someday’), saving the world (”˜Feels Like Saving The World’) and helping someone get to the top (”˜Amen’). Outlandish has always been known for their lyrics and the message that their songs send out. While they could join the regular hip-hop bandwagon doing nothing more than rapping about having a good time, they’d rather make their views on contemporary issues heard.
