Since July Mumbai prog/fusion rockers Paradigm Shift have been posting teaser clips on their official Facebook page of the recording sessions for their upcoming second album Sammukh. Due to release in mid-September, the group has now revealed the artwork and tracklist for the LP.

‘Sammukh’ artwork by Ronen Samson.

Paradigm Shift ”“ which comprises Kaushik  Ramachandran, guitarists Chinmay Agharkar and Desikan Gopalan, violinist Ajay Jayanthi, bassist Ariel Samson and drummer Aamir Ismail Shaikh ”“ explain that Sammukh is a concept album. The band said in a statement, “It is a prequel to our first album Coalescence. Conceptually it is a journey that takes you to Coalescence.” They added, “We have tried to retain our identity, our sound but we really did explore a lot sonically in the new album.” Fans can expect longer and darker songs on their latest offering.

The album has been produced by Mumbai producer Vishal J Singh (of multinational avant-garde group Amogh Symphony), mixed by Bruce Soord and mastered by Steve Kitch (from prog band The Pineapple Thief) in the U.K. On the recording sessions, Singh says, “I have seen major developments and evolving process within the band members when it comes to songwriting. Each member worked very hard individually and the best thing about them is that they all were so focused and determined.”

After the release of the new record, Paradigm Shift is planning to head out on a nationwide tour in October to promote the album.

Sammukh tracklist:

“Bekhabar”
“Wajah”
“Khoye the Hum”
“Banjaara”
“Kyun?”
