Parikrama Head To Africa This May
Delhi rock veterans to play Addis Ababa and Lagos
Indian rock veterans Parikrama have been performing for over two decades now and will soon close in on the 3000th live performance of their long career. The Delhi band, which celebrated it’s 20th anniversary last year, currently play upwards of a 150 gigs a year, a massive figure for any Indian indie act.
Still, it doesn’t look like Parikrama plan on taking things easy.
This May, the band will pack their bags and head off to Africa for their first ever shows in the continent. The band has already confirmed two shows in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and Lagos, Nigeria and are working on adding at least two more dates on the tour.
Talking about the landmark tour, Parikrama keyboardist and manager Subir Malik said, “The band is really excited, as we have never really played Africa before and the best part is that most gigs are happening at college campuses, a crowd we love to play for. Over the last few years we’ve really been playing quite a bit abroad. Besides the mainstream UK, US and Canadian markets, its been brilliant to visit countries like Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam,Bhutan, Indonesia,Muscat, Nepal, etc. and now Africa”.
Parikrama’s Africa tour Dates so far:
18 May: Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia
24 May: University of Lagos, Nigeria.
