Park Bo-young and Jinyoung from Got7 will take center stage in the upcoming K-drama, Unknown Seoul. According to media reports, its release is scheduled for April 12, 2025.

Written by Lee Kang and directed by Park Shin-woo, Unknown Seoul weaves complexities of identity, love, and the pursuit of self-discovery through a tale of twin sisters.

For the first time in her protracted career, Park Bo-young is playing a double role as the twin sisters Yoo Mi-ji and Yoo Mi-rae, who share nothing in common except for how they look. Mi-ji is a flamboyant personality, a former sportsperson with fleeting fame. Now she lives a carefree life as opposed to her erudite elder sister Mi-rae, who boasts a flawless profile and a faultless career.

The sisters (I assume because of unanticipated or unavoidable reasons) switch identities, resulting in a drama that crosses over themes of deception, relationships, and the important impact of personal choices, making for an engaging and thought-provoking viewing experience. The best part of the story is that the falsehood turns into a catalyst for positive purposes, changing Mi-ji and Mi-rae’s lives and helping them discover true love.

Jinyoung enters the scene as the male lead, portraying a dashing, chilled-out Lee Ho-soo. Although his relaxed persona is merely a façade that hides a deep well of complexity underneath, it surely adds to his charm and the lawyer he is, working for an esteemed law company.

On the inside, Ho-soo is highly resilient, having gotten through a turning point in his past that made him into the protective guy he is today. He’s industrious and leads a seemingly unassuming life, masking the depth of his emotions and the scars that linger from his experiences. However, the mask is about to come off when he runs into someone who I believe has to do with one of the Yoo sisters—potentially unraveling the truth behind his meticulously curated life.

Another protagonist in Unknown Seoul is Ryu Kyung-soo’s Han Se-jin, an investment firm guy who later switches careers to become a countryside farm owner. His role in this story remains a point of interest, although I’m sure he’ll be involved with one of the sisters.

Jinyoung’s Lee Ho-soo blends his outer calm with underlying currents of vulnerability and emotional truths. His and Park’s chemistry is the main attraction of the drama, alongside Park’s dual roles in which she portrays Mi-ji and Mi-rae and their distinct lives. As they work through their web of lies and deceit, their lives are about to change. Unknown Seoul is essentially about that and much more in its exploration of the themes of identity, authenticity, and the search for meaning in life.
